More than two and and half years on from my last job things are still good in my new posistion. Both myself and my colleague have been told of prospects to travel on businees related matters to India in the coming year, but as things move at a relative slow pace in this environment I'm not holding my breath... But the contrast between now and 2003 ,early 2004 could not be more defined I look forward to work even the travel is no longer so bad. Ironically my former company has moved to the same business park and I even did some 'consulting' work for them back in April 2006.

Well after 8 months experience in my new role I can only say that generally work is far more pleasurable than my previous employment. There is a 'civilised air' about the office and no real evidence of a fear culture. What is also encouraging is that employees actually retire from here having given long (40plus years) of service - contrast this with my last job where I witnessed feuds , dismisals, a nervous breakdown, and the turnover of an entire sales team in 6 months.
After 4 months of enforced 'holiday' I am today embarking a new position with a long established accountancy firm, this role will hopefully be a more enjoyable prospect than that of my last employer - only time will tell......
Today the pain has been 'relieved' I was told in a meeting I was no longer required due to the economic pressures on the 'company' ..... This would be believable if the bosses intented (who just happens to do the book keeping , accounts and payroll) is on long term almost certainly paid leave to study for a degree whilst also retaining the company car her position so richly deserves ..... my only real concern is that I need to gain new employment quickly as I am moving house within the week.
This job becomes more depressing by the day ... I constantly chase customers to fix their problems...They conceive all methods for assigning blame they can contrive... If they spent the same energy on trying to fix problems rather than protect their backs, life for everyone would be much better... I remain rooted to this seat and desk like a limpet on a rock... no end to the benign boredom ... I suppose ultimately it's down to me to find alternative employment - my only concern then would be "same shit different shovel" scenario and yet another position change for my CV to expose...This I guess is life in the early 21st century gauged by tick list achievements , possessions and greed... no soul no emotions .. these are to be left at home with any other perceived weaknesses ... As Dave Lee Roth said in one of his lyrics "The weak shall inherit shit" his certainly wasn't wrong... The echo of the severe reprimand my department was collectively given 3 weeks ag...
The owner/boss who demands additional hours for no extra pay has left for a weekend away at 1pm , while we are expected to work until 5:30pm...... Don't think this action will endear any loyalty...
Today I have been "forced" to start work an hour earlier by my boss. There is no additional recompence for this , other than retaining my employement. This is also forced upon 4 of my colleagues
